During other girl’s trips I’m always saying to myself, “oh lord, this is about to be a longgg weekend.” It was a last minute plan to go to Virginia beach for 4th of July. The drive there was HORRIBLE. A normal 3.5 hours drive there took us about 6 hours. Once we arrived it was time to start planning out our weekend -What we wanted to do, where we wanted to eat, and more.
Beach – RELAXATION at its best! I live for the beach. If it was up to me I would lay there all day but that can’t happen when you want to check out other sites.
Parasailing – Amazing! This has been on my bucket list for a long time so I was extremely excited to check this off. We went to Adventure Parasail and Rudee Inlet Jetski, which cost $88 for the 1000ft one.
Jet Ski – The same company also provided Jet Skies. You had the option of doing 30 minutes or 1 hour. During the time we went, they only offered the option of doing 1 hour but we didn’t want to spend that much time on there. I think 30 minutes is just enough.
Naval Museum – If you have a car I would recommend checking out the Naval Museum. As soon as you walk in there is a huge battleship staring you down.
Where to Eat
For some reason every time I go to the beach I crave seafood. So after we went parasailing, we ended up going to a restaurant close by – best decision we made. It was called Rudee’s Restaurant & Cabana Bar.
They had an outside bar if you wanted to sit out and grab a few drinks or you had the option to go inside. I ordered the Steamed Shrimp & Snow Crab Combo with the Rudee’s ruckus. That drink was SO strong, they even have instructions stating you can only have two. But I couldn’t even finish the one I had.
It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Virginia Beach so I didn’t know anything about the nightlife down there. Our trip typically consist of laying on the beach all day but we ventured out to find two fun places to go to. We met up with my friend in Norfolk and went to a bar called Scotty Quixx. The cover was $10.
The atmosphere was crazy. People were bumping and grinding on each other so of course it was a hot and sweaty mess. It was still fun and the music was great. They played a mix of hip hop and techno. We only ended up staying for an hour so we could hit up another bar by Virginia Beach.
Next stop, Peabody’s Nightclub! As soon as you walk in the smell of sweat just smacks you in the face! However, the place was very spacious. They have a good size dance floor for people who wanted to dance. And also plenty of room to sit and mingle with friends.
Helpful Tips –
There is always traffic coming in and out of Virginia so I suggest leaving around 5AM to skip most of the traffic.
Always stay hydrated! I have a bad habit of not drinking alot of water when I’m on vacation. Being out in the sun all day can dehydrate you and drain your body. Be prepared, always keep a water bottle with you.
Always have cash or coins. Parking there can be expensive so if you can find street parking then that’s great. Keep in mind that it is meter parking, so always have some change on you.
