After my Paris trip, I took a tiny plane on Flybe that I thought was going to break down when I got on.
After 2 hours of praying not to die, I finally landed in Aberdeen. I met up with my cousin that was flying in from London, and we managed to hop on the bus to head to the mall. There we met up with my other cousin and my mom. It had been 5 months since I saw my mom, so you could imagine my excitement.
Flight costs:£ 218.94 (with a $10 off discount I received)
Every year my Uncle plans a barbecue party for him and his colleagues. It is always a great time to see my family and also interact with the people he works with every day in the Clinic. He lives in the middle of nowhere….literally! The first thing that catches your eye when you first drive up the road is the street name. Ndow- Kunda, my uncle’s name. It is a big, beautiful area with cows around and just plain greenery – perfect place to just relax and really get to see the beauty in nature.
I am not that close to my cousins in Scotland so I try to attend the barbecue as a way to build a stronger bond. After a long night of talking and laughing, it was time for bed to get ready for the next morning.
We work up early, our aunt cooked us a big breakfast and it was time to start cleaning and preparing for the party. I kept asking myself why my Uncle has barbecues when it’s soo cold in Scotland. But hey any reason to have a party I’m there! And he does throw amazing parties: delicious African food, music and also great conversations. I think we danced until 2-3AM, no one was ready to go home – that’s what happens when you party with Africans ha!
The next day my cousins and I went to the nearby shopping center, where we went shopping for cheap clothes, bra and souvenirs. I don’t know if this is just me, but when I buy clothes in Europe they’re better quality and last longer than U.S clothes. That’s why I love shopping there before I head back home.
The weekend full of partying, drinking and shopping came to an end too soon, it was already time to pack up and head back to the U.S.
