With a new year comes new goals. 2018 will be the year I teach myself how to become a videographer by using the GoPro Hero 5 (with Karma Grip). Take a look behind the imagines as I capture my travel moments and adventures through stunning video.
I’ll start small by creating 60 second Instagram videos giving you a creative glimpse behind the posts. My first capture will be next week when I travel to Haiti for some much needed family fun.
Unboxing: GoPro Hero 5
As a Christmas gift to myself, I purchased the GoPro Hero 5 and Karma Grip Stabiliser, amongst other beginner must-haves. Here’s the Unboxing of the GoPro Hero 5 (with Karma Grip):
GoPro Hero 5
GoPro Hero 5 comes equipped with the voice activating remote, battery, USB charger, instruction guides, and mounts. The Hero 5 has an easy-to-use touch screen display and shoots stunning 4K video and pro-quality picture. Please visit GoPro’s website for more information. I also purchased the waterproof housing and floating grip for underwater adventures.
GoPro Karma Grip
GoPro Karma Grip Stabilizer can be handheld or body-worn to capture incredibly smooth shake-free video. It has built-in camera controls that let you power on and off, change modes, start and stop recording, and add HiLight Tags right on its display handle.
It sells for $299.99 at most stores, however, I won a bidding on eBay and got it plus the case for $230. The set came in mint condition and was only used once according to the seller.
There is a trick to mounting the Hero 5 to the Karma Grip. Slide the USB door to open. Once it’s open, give it a little tug until it pops off. Don’t panic, its detachable and can be put back on. Now you can easily slide the camera into the Karma Grip until it aligns with the case and close tight.
To put the door back on, simply slide the inside square part out as far as it goes. Then turn it over and click it right back onto the silver bar.
Comment below if you would like me to do a review on the Karma Grip after its been in action. Be sure to follow me on Instagram (Mel.Lauture). The video from Haiti will be posted at the end of January or beginning of February. Read about my first experience in Haiti here.
