Sometimes getting away from traditions can benefit us in more ways than we think. Somethings just aren’t the same as we get older so why not make new memories and spend the holidays away for a change.
Here are our top 8 reasons to spend the holidays away from home.
1. Get away from relatives
Nothing is more annoying than attending a family party with a bunch of “still?” relatives. “You’re still single?” “You’re still broke?” “You’re still eating?”
2. Travel deals
Book smart. Traveling during the holidays can either be really expensive or affordable. It all comes down to location, location, location. Check out last minute flight deals and don’t be afraid to fly on the day of a holiday.
3. New country, new experiences
Experience other countries holiday traditions. Some people believe in Santa while others believe in Kings.
4. Meet new people
Try spending the holidays somewhere new or with new people. You’d be surprised how many interesting people you can meet when stepping outside your “norm”.
5. Free days off
Take advantage of your job closing during the holidays. A 7 day vacation may only require you to take off 4 days.
6. No cooking or cleaning
Emphasis on cleaning because after inhaling all that food, the last thing I want to do is clean up after 50+ relatives
7. Escaping the cold
For many of you, Christmas/Chanukah/New Years means cold blistering weather. Why not celebrate this year’s on a beach with a cocktail in one hand and selfie stick in the other. While others are posting their “I miss summer” thirst traps, live in the moment and soak up some sun.
8. No pressure
Being around family can cause a lot of pressure. They always expect you to be and do better than the last time they saw you. The pressure of the new year can also be overbearing. Use this time to clear your mind and plan the future with ease.
