*Cue in the old six flags jingle with the old guy*
I’ve been waiting for this moment for 12+ years! My family and I used to come to six flags religiously, back when it was called Adventure World.
The ticket line was long and crowed. What made it worse was the sun beaming in my face and the cashier being kicked out of the server for 5-10 minutes. We waited an additional 10-15 minutes just to get through the gates and into the park.
The only good thing about it being hot was that EVERYONE was at the water park, therefore, we waited, roughly 20 minutes to ride the roller coasters.
I like to think of myself as a daredevil, however, I guess I’m not as cut out as I used to be…
So which ride made me scream the most?
The Mind Eraser
The first ride of the day and I was lowkey freaking out. I couldn’t remember the feeling of the loops and turns and overall scare of a roller coaster. I wish they took my picture during the first drop because I swear my eyes were wide open in fear as I tried gripping the handles.
Now, it wasn’t THAT bad, I just wasn’t the same feeling I remember. Short and sweet ride but don’t be surprised if you get off with a headache. It definitely lived up to its name.
This ride is fairly new and it’s the only ride at six flags where you ride standing up. It was a fun ride but nothing too crazy. Guys, watch your balls. Ladies, protect the kitty. The seating was pretty awkward and uncomfortable to sit on at times.
I remember when we were younger, my sister and I forced my dad to ride joker’s jinx. He got off cracking up in fear yelling, “NEVER AGAIN!!, you all are crazy” haha. It was slightly less scary than I remembered it. I missed the anticipated “blast off” in the beginning.
Ride of Steel: Superman
Saved the best for last. This ride is by far the most heart wrenching, loud screaming, lose your breath ride I’ve ever been on. I thought it was going to be a lot higher so of course after seeing it I was like, “Psh, I got this in the bag”.
The anticipated ride up was never ending. Just when I thought we were almost high enough, the ride kept going… and going… and going.. until I immediately regretted getting on. So as the ride started to curve into that drop, my mouth dropped as I TRIED yelling “HOLYYYY, SHIIII….” followed by a scream of sheer death. I felt my body lifting out of the seat. There are so many drops that you have no time to breathe and accept the fact that you almost died. I tried putting my hands up like everyone else but it was flapping everywhere, I thought the wind was gonna yank me out. I’m not going to lie, I was so close to crying.
So what happened when I got off? I manned the fuck up and went for round two. Take advantage of short lines while you can.
Amusement park foods are always overpriced and not the best tasting. Therefore try eating before going anywhere to avoid wasting money…. But maybe treat yourself to a funnel cake 😛
Please stay hydrated because the sun was no joke. As a result, we ended up purchasing at least 3-4 bottles each. Also use sunblock to protect your skin so you don’t fry.
