SUMMER IS HERE!!!
Guys are sliding into the DMs, girls are looking on fleek in their sundress… but most importantly, it’s time to hit the beach, beach! (My Wife and Kids reference)
But wait! The beach isn’t all about making a fashion statement, you’ve got to come prepared hunny.
Sure, you’ve packed the obvious beach towel, sunglasses, and possibly some alcohol for you alcoholics – tisk tisk! But did you remember your portable charger, your sunscreen, or waterproof bag? Well it’s a good thing you’re here ‘cuz we’ve got you covered!
Here are our must-have beach bag items…
1. FOOD, FOOD, and more FOOD!
Because of the fat ass that I am, I had to list this first. I need food every hour on the hour. I can’t go anywhere without packing a snack. Whether it’s a protein bar, sandwich, chips, cookies, or fruits, bringing food ahead of time is a life saver.
2. Portable Charger
Trying to make people back home jealous by snapping selfies on the beach? Welp, there goes 20% of your battery. Trying to pick the best filter on Instagram that hides those ugly pimples? Boom, there goes another 15.23%. That plus the heat beaming down, you’re looking at about 45% left after just 15 minutes on the beach.
Don’t stress! This is when the portable charger comes in hand. I’ve got the Jackery Bar Premium iPhone Charger & External Battery 6000mAh Portable Charger. I bought it off of ebay for less than $30! It’s compact, lightweight, AND can charge your iPhone to 100% up to 2-3 times.
3. Bluetooth Speaker
Sometimes laying on the beach can get a little dull. Who says you can’t bring the party with you. Tasha’s bluetooth speaker always comes in handy – pregaming in the hotel, chillin on the beach, etc.
4. Waterproof Bag
Just because you’re in paradise doesn’t mean it won’t start pouring at any given moment. Be prepared and bring a waterproof bag/backpack to protect your valuables.
I bought the Quechua Hiking Water Repellent Mini Backpack Rucksack Arpenaz 10L for only $13. Yes it’s small but I use it whenever I carry my Sony camera, gorilla tripod, and other valuable items I can’t risk getting wet. Plus, it’s the perfect size for festivals! They also sell a 20L size for those who need more space.
I can’t stress it enough how important putting on sunscreen is. The peeling, heat rash, and embarrassing suntans aren’t worth trying to look pretty and avoid putting it on. Protect your skin! Don’t let overcast weather fool you, the sun is just as powerful. Apply twice a day if needed.
Ice cold, refreshing water. Don’t leave the house/hotel without at least two bottles. Stick it in the freezer the night before to keep it nice and cold while you’re on the beach. Staying hydrated is key to enjoying your trip. You don’t want to end up passing out from dehydration.
Bring both a beach towel to lay on and one to dry yourself off after a nice swim.
Not going straight back to your hotel? Don’t forget to back undergarments. Keeping wet clothes/bathing suit on for a long period can make you sick and irritate your skin. Stay refreshed… or go commando like I do.
9. Chapstick with SPF
Don’t leave your lips looking like a shattered phone screen. Get yourself some chapstick with SPF to protect your lips from the blazing sun.
10. Hair Ties
Ladies, I know I’m not the only one. I ALWAYS have a small ponytail on my wrist even when I already have my hair up. You’ll end up needing it for something.
That’s it! If I was able to avoid at least one “Oh shoot, I forgot…” moment, then my job is done.
