Starting this blog in February of 2016 made me push myself to explore destinations that have been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. It also increased my drive to travel with friends and family. 2016 best travel moments was a combination of girl trips, sister bonding trips, weekend getaways and visiting family overseas.
Check out the best destinations I took in 2016:
Canada was a last-minute getaway I took with my Mom. We went for a wedding but took one day to go sightseeing. Since it was my first time in Canada, seeing Niagara Falls was a must.
Most of the activities we did consisted of the wedding and visiting family. I’m definitely planning to go back as I didn’t get enough time to enjoy it.
Miami is my second home, every time I go I always come back with some crazy memories. Mel and I went in March for Ultra Music Festival, this was our first 3-day festival that we have traveled for. The DJs were amazing, but by the second day my body was shutting down. A lot of standing, walking, pushing and drinking – but would I go back again? Hell yeah!
We already bought our tickets for this year! We made the mistake by only sticking to one stage, but this year I’m determined to explore the grounds and see the different DJs there.
I don’t know where to start with this trip, it was the most stressful trip I’ve been on. From not being able to get on the flight to Qatar first because I’ve been out of the country for 6 months to almost missing my connecting flight to Greece because I wasn’t dressed appropriately (Staff ticket problems) – Nightmare!
However, once I was there it was worth the headache. We went to Athens for two days, which is the historical capital of Greece. After visiting most of the popular historical sites, it was off to Santorini.
Santorini was breathtaking, I couldn’t be happier that I got to spend my birthday there. It’s a place full of romance, so going with my sister wasn’t what I imagined. Since I don’t have a boyfriend I can’t really complain ha.
Puerto Rico was the longest girl’s trip, I’ve taken in a very long time – 9 days with two close friends. It was a great way for us to learn a lot about each other and to get under one another’s skins. Puerto Rico itself was beautiful, we stayed in Condado. While it wasn’t close to Old San Juan and the nightlife, it was close to the beach and did have a strip of great restaurants.
I went on the best tours on my trip to San Juan. We did the El Yunque tour, Bacardi Distillery tour, and Culebra tour. I got to check off snorkeling from my bucket list. For a person that can’t really swim – it was a big accomplishment.
Qatar will always be a place I call home, especially since I lived there for a year. It’s always fun going back to see my family and the friends I made.
After Greece, we made a stop in Qatar to see my parents and do a little sightseeing since my sister has only been there once. We had a relaxing pool day at Sharq Village and then walked around Museum of Islamic Art.
A spontaneous trip that turned into the best getaway that year. First time in New Orleans and our expectations were very high since all you hear about is Mardi Gras and bourbon street. Well, it did not disappoint one bit.
Even though we didn’t have time to do all the sightseeing and activities, I was pretty content with staying on bourbon street and enjoying their crazy nightlife. I would definitely recommend going around Halloween.
Farewell, 2016 travel moments consisted of many ups and downs but I made some great memories. Now 2017 will be the year where I set aside my fears and solo travel! Stay tuned it’s just the beginning
